Join Kate, a local artist who works as a painter, calligrapher, illustrator, and potter. Since selling her stationery shop, Getting It Write, in 2001, Kate has made her living working from home, as a stationery vendor to American Greetings and UK Greetings, for whom she designs and manufactures her own line of greeting cards.
Kate will teach us simple calligraphic lettering techniques in this Modern Calligraphy workshop. She will teach us to use nib pens with the dip ink, and then using the skills newly learned for calligraphy, focus the workshop on faux calligraphy (shown here) for beautifully and easily writing on everyday things like notes & envelopes, gift tags, kitchen chalkboards, menus, place cards, etcetera. Learn through bite-sized calligraphy lessons with step-by-step instructions for crafting your modern script. You'll discover tips and tricks for basic letter formations and connecting letters and phrases.
The beauty of calligraphy lies in its imperfections. Learning how to master these flaws and incorporate them into your writing style makes your letter unique and distinctive. Breaking down these elements will provide a solid foundation for developing your calligraphy skills.

- You will take home a nib pen and dip ink set, a black graphic design pen for creating faux calligraphy, lettering sheets for at-home practice, and the stationery piece(s) you make during the workshop.
