The Waste Volume

“Waste” can refer to so much. From trash to treasure, within these pages you’ll find folks facing and transforming waste, reusing the things in their world to make life more beautiful, more reciprocal, and more thoughtful. Folks who look at literal waste in new ways, whether it be from their toilets to the earth or how bodily waste affects their looks. And then there’s the folks who, like me, question how they waste every day, whether it be their time, a waste of wanting, or the rampant stuff of life.


We hope that in reading, you too ponder how waste appears in your world.



FOLKLIFE
 is a premium, earthy, semi-annual publication, featuring art, business, creativity, food, farming, homes and nature, with a goal to slow the folk down.

GOOD TO KNOW

Shipping Charges

We offer a flat rate of $24CAD for shipping items throughout Canada and USA, and free shipping for purchases over $250CAD before taxes. 

We do not refund shipping and handling charges and you are responsible for all shipping costs on merchandise being returned to us. (See return policy here.)

If you reside in a country outside of Canada or the USA, please create a basket of what you would like, take an screenshot and email it to us (hello@shoppublicmercantile.com) with a request for a custom shipping quote.

Note: We offer free local pick-up from our retail location at 1804 Government St, Victoria, BC, during our business hours.

Return Policy

Thank you for shopping with us! We want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase from us. If you need to return an item, please note that all items must be returned in the condition that they were received - Not Worn, Altered and Washed, and with All Tags Attached.

If these conditions above are met, and the item is in perfect re-sellable condition, you can return regular priced merchandise within 10 days of receiving your order for an exchange or store credit only.

We do not refund shipping charges. Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs and any customs charges incurred by us if sent from outside Canada.


Final Sale

The following are not eligible for refund or exchange and are considered a Final Sale:

  • All Sale Items
  • Intimates // Personal Care
  • Apothecary // Skincare // Body care
  • Accessories
  • Grooming products
  • Gift Cards

Final Sale items cannot be returned or exchanged. If we receive a returned Final Sale item or items, the package will be returned to you, we will notify you via email, and you will not receive a refund.

 

Returns and Exchanges In-Store

Returns/exchanges are accepted in our store location within 10 days of purchase on products not included in the Final Sale list (see above). 

We accept in-store returns in exchange for a store credit equal to the refunded amount. No cash refunds are given at the store. 

Please provide the receipt/order number of your purchase so we can process your return.

Need to exchange the size or colour of your purchased item? You can make an even exchange in-store. Please contact the store by email (hello@shoppublicmercantile.com) prior to your visit, to ensure that the replacement item is available at the store.

 

Defective Merchandise

We will do our best to carefully check your item(s) prior to shipping. If you believe that you have received defective merchandise, you must notify us within 48 hours of delivery of the product to be eligible for a refund. There are no exceptions. Please send us pictures of the item(s) that are damaged, along with the box and packaging. 

 

Incorrect Merchandise

If you were shipped incorrect merchandise (style, colour, size, etc.) please notify us within 3 days of receiving the product to be eligible for a refund. We will pay for the return shipping for incorrectly filled orders.

Some items do not ship due to being heavy or breakable. If a product does not go in your cart for shipping, this is probably why, but please reach out to us if you have questions.
